Airbnb.org Provides Free Temporary Housing for Los Angeles Wildfire Victims

Due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Airbnb.org is offering free temporary places to stay. They are collaborating with 211 LA, a local service entity in Los Angeles County, to support people who had to leave their homes because of the fires.

The housing is completely free for those affected, thanks to donations from Airbnb.org and the kind support of many Airbnb hosts who are offering their homes either for free or at a discounted rate.

How It Works

Airbnb.org teams up with local organizations like 211 LA to find and help those who urgently need a place to stay. Currently, they are focusing on helping residents from Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, Santa Monica, and Sylmar.

Anyone from these areas who needs emergency housing can fill out an intake form with 211 LA to get connected to a temporary home.

Airbnb.org is a nonprofit established by Airbnb, dedicated to providing free emergency accommodation during crises. To date, they have supplied over 1.6 million nights of stay for more than 250,000 individuals during various disasters worldwide.

211 LA has been a vital community service in Los Angeles for over 40 years, offering 24/7 support in multiple languages, and connecting people with crucial health and human services.

Airbnb.org was recently also involved in providing housing for people affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, other wildfires in California and Canada, floods in Brazil, and an earthquake in Japan.

How to Help

If you want to support the affected individuals, you can offer your home for free or at a discounted price through Airbnb.org, which covers service fees and provides insurance for hosts

Additionally, you can donate to the organization, where 100% of your contribution will go towards emergency housing efforts.
